At the weekend I spent my very first night away from Bubba at a Spa, it was something I've always wanted to do but not been able to find the time to get away. So on Friday, after husbands or families had been briefed on the next 24 hours, my two friends and I headed off to a blissful night/day of relaxation. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to leave Bubba (as I ran out the front door).

We chose the Lifehouse Spa as it had a great offer on and I had seen it advertised either whilst I was pregnant or just after I'd had Bubba and it stuck in my head. At the time I diligently cut a small advert out of the paper and pinned it to my noticeboard in the kitchen where it curled slightly and went a bit yellow (that's how long it was there).

We were all very excited as we finally pulled into the long windy driveway after the satnav took us on a slight detour. Check in was swift and problem free and we were shown through to the lifts and pointed towards our rooms. We dumped our bags and went on a look around and this is where confusion started, as we couldn't find our way around that easily because signs are fairly basic (but once you have the hang of it then it all becomes clear).

I really liked the attention to detail in some areas such as in the rooms we had two mags to read, tea, coffee and hot choc and water. Beds were lovely and the views out of the window were very serene. It felt a little weird to spend the majority of our time in robes to start with but soon it became second nature and its strange to go back to normal clothes.

We got a great deal which included one 25 minute treatment, evening meal and breakfast the next morning. My meal was lovely and I had: Tempura prawn and baby squid in harrisa ketchup, Parmesan gnocchi with pea, lettuce and onion for the main. It was all very tasty and we washed it down with a bottle of Prosecco (well it would have been rude not to!).

The treatments were sublime and within our stay we had a 25 minute back massage which was heavenly and off the back of this I decided to book a head massage the next morning. Again it was so relaxing and heavenly. The other facilities were great too, we spent a while in the pool on both days and it was never heaving with people which was nice. The gardens were really nice and we had a great walk around just before we left which was relaxing in itself.

This isn't a sponsored post, I'm just loving the spa and if you are in or can easily get to Essex then I would recommend this spa.
